July 2019- CropIn, a leading-edge B2B Agtech company makes it to the top 10 list of Agritech Startups chosen to pitch at the grand finale event of Agriculture Insuretech Innovation Challenge 2019 hosted by Global Index Insurance Facility (GIIF). GIIF is an insurance programme supported by the World Bank Group to develop local insurance markets for weather and disaster-based insurance for developing economies. The Grand Challenge event was held on July 8-9, 2019 in Mumbai and witnessed the world’s most prominent tech entrepreneurs, and agriculture insuretech providers showcasing their business to investors, corporates, DFIs, and policymakers. CropIn submitted a business proposition in an online application process, competing against several other contestants in the Agritech Insurance arena that uses technology to address the credit risk assessment and claims settlement process for farmers. After a month of rigorous evaluation, Cropin was shortlisted as Finalist among the 10 Agritech companies for the next phase of the Pitch Day competition. At Pitch Day event, Amit Salunkhe, Head of BFSI India represented CropIn with an intriguing business proposition that addresses the pain points of financial institutions, banking, and insurance providers in agriculture sector.
