April 2020 – CropIn is featured on the Foundation for Economic Development’s report on ‘AgriTech innovations – Transforming Indian Agriculture’. CropIn is listed as the top 20 innovators that were featured for their disruptive solutions as catalysts to achieving higher productivity in the Indian agriculture sector. The purpose of the report is to bring forth some of the path-breaking work done by innovators in the agritech space.
The FED report highlighted CropIn’s state-of-the-art solutions and how they are addressing the challenges in the sector with their innovations. The report threw light on how the current agriculture ecosystem lacks technology and data driven solutions to solve the problems of various stakeholders – farmers, input companies, traders, lenders, insurance companies, and governments. The imperative need for designing stakeholder-customised solutions and accuracy in insights was focussed upon in the report.
The report further spoke about CropIn’s various use cases of its solutions including partnership with Mahalanobis National Crop Forecasting Centre (MNCFC) for Crop Cutting Experiments (CCE) to optimise the insurance pay-out process under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) through its AI-based solution, SmartRisk; PAGREXCO association with the Government of Punjab for potato seed traceability; World Bank project on “Climate Smart Agriculture” in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar; and “Field Digitisation” project across 30 districts in Karnataka through SmartFarm.
The Foundation for Economic Development is a not-for-profit organisation working towards making India a developed nation through economic policy measures and innovations that act as the instruments of change.
